G-8 meeting begins, protests continue
Submitted by florian on Wed, 2007-06-06 12:35.Today it is sunny again. After a few cold and cloudy days the protests against the G-8 meeting continue with blockades of the streets that lead to the conference venue in Heiligendamm, 15km outside of Rostock. Organisers say there are more than 10,000 people on the blockades. According to several sources various groups seem to have reached the 12km long fence that walls off Heiligendamm from the rest of the world. Apparently all roads to Heiligendamm are blocked, the G-8 delegates can access Heiligendamm only by air or sea.
The day after
Submitted by florian on Sun, 2007-06-03 11:25.Rostock, the day after the start of the first huge anti-g8 protests. We were sleeping late, almost till noon. The city seems to be cleaner than ever and the situation is rather enigmatic. While the mainstream media provide an image of total devastation and chaos, my main impression is confusion. Some of us went to join the first demonstrations today, some others stay in the studio in order to clean up the mess there. Nobody seems to have a clue about how all this can go on. We decided to take a camera and start shooting. We are thinking of long sequences: some kind of watching, relaxing and reflecting shots.
